Death of Edmund and Mahala Clark - 7

BENDIGO.

Mr. Edmund Chas. Clark, an old and re spected resident of Wattle-street, died sud denly on Friday night, aged 80 years. The death was reported to the police, but Dr. Atkinson gave a certificate that the cause of death was senile debility.- and an order for burial was issued. Deceased, who was a builder by trade, was engaged in the erection of the first post office on this gold field. During the past year there were 453 interments in the Bendigo cemetery, a decrease of 120 on the number for the previous. year.


Mahala

Mrs Mahala clar, an old resident of Wattle street, died yesterday in her 85th year.  The deseased lady was born in Kent in 1821, and came to Bendigo 48 years ago.  Her father was the late Captain W. Banks R.A. who was in the Royal Navy.  A family of three sons and five daughters survive, all being married excepting one daughter.  the husband of the deceased died last February.  Mr W.S. Clark, contractor of Queen Street and PG of the James Roe Lodge - a son of the deceased, while the other two sons are contractors in Sydney and Perth.  The funeral will move for the Bendigo Cemetery the afternoon at 4 o'clock.
